I went on a trip to northwest China last year with my parents.There are very beautiful natural landscapes and historical sites there.During the trip we saw desert and extensive grasslands. We went there in summer.But the mountains there are very high, so it's cool.The only bad thing about it is that it's so high up, if you run or jump, you get hypoxia.
Wow, sounds like you had a wonderful time. Deserts, grasslands, & mountains: The scale of the landscape there sounds 'massive.' Being there would have made you feel part of something grand, something tremendous, I guess.
